hello guys I've come here to ask you a question about my Jack Dempsey. ever since I bought him as a juvenile he has never liked or taken a liking to pellets. I've tried starting him with the top fin pellets which I know aren't the which I know ate not the best, so I was suggested that I switch to something like Omega.

he does not want pellets he's completely spoiled because when I drop in beef heart or blood worms he goes crazy. I know he can't just eat nothing but beef heart and blood worms at least from my understanding. he will refuse to eat I've even waited up to 2 to 3 days just dropping in a few pellets to see if maybe he gets hungry enough to eat them. he refuses to eat them.

I have checked all my water parameters everything is fine he's got 2 large filters on his 55 gallon tank which are both which are both canisters.

No clue what to do.

I am no specialist on what a JD would eat (if they should eat pellets), but if he wont eat them after 3 days, keep feeding him it, don't give in. If he is supposed to eat them, he will; he won't let himself starve.

Fish can go a week or more w/o eating, in nature its all about timing and sometimes they must wait to eat.

Also, maybe dip the pellets in some beef heart/blood worm juice. Basically defrost some of the frozen in a cup and then puts some pellets in the cup for a few seconds to soak up the juice. Then feed him the pellets, it can be a way to get him used to eating dry food.

I agree. My lyonsi went 10 days with out eating much. He will eat them when he's hungry enough. Try NLS with garlic.

Try massivore pellets by Hikari. My female loves them to death. She never favored NLS much as far as pellets go but loves those.
