jumbo pleco

is there something actually called a jumbo pleco? my LFS has these two massive plecos, bigger than 20 inches a piece, they have them labeled as jumbo plecos and sellin them for 89.99, I was wondering if there is such thing as the jumbo pleco or if it was a made up name for these monsters lol

They're just jumbo-size common pleco's, the little ones from Wal-Mart will grow that large over time.

I've caught plecos about that size, maybe a little bigger, but that was when I was in Argentina. They were not all that common to catch, but sometimes you would get one when bottom fishing in the Rio de la Plata http://members.tripod.com/acuario_marino.ar/vieja-del-agua-chorrosco.htm.

What you've likly seen is:
Common Name: Common Plecostomus, Trinidad Plecostomus
Scientific Name: Hypostomus plecostomus
Origin: South America

They will get to be 24" or larger if they have enough room and are happy.

thats them, yeah i'll go tonight and snap a photo of them, they make full size silver dollars look like quarters in the tank, they are massive
