I can't seem to keep shrimp alive and I think it may be related to my ultra-soft water. GH an KH are both 1; pH is about 6.8. I don't want to add crushed coral because I'm happy with my pH where it is. I've been looking at Seachem Equilibrium - would that do the trick? I know it's just for GH, but my reading suggests that's more important than KH for inverts.

The piece that might complicate the puzzle is that I plan to plant this tank next week. I will be using glut and PPS-Pro. I don't know how the fertilizers will affect the hardness.

Thoughts?

Following along because I have had unexplained shrimp deaths and I believe it is linked to molting. Water is not as soft as yours (KH 5 GH 9). I have added a few chunks of cuttlebone to boost the calcium (have not ordered a calcium test kit yet). Have not researched the Seachem product you mentioned.
