leporinus -- are they schooling fish? Can I just get ONE ?

They need a group or like Tiger Barbs they get very nippy. Not a good choice for an Oscar IMHO.

I had many returned for killing other fish when sold as singles. In a big tank in a big group with other fast fish, they are great looking. Most people don't have room for a shoal of them.

Up to a 12". Fast grower. Major jumper, needs a tight lid.
 
These fish are like cheetahs. They are active and not something that is easy to control.

Interesting...the analogy of cheetahs is a very good one (Props to bettaowner).

On the condition they're the only things in your tank and it's reasonably large then I wouldn't be surprised if it worked.

It would make your tank a death trap for pretty much every other species though :cool:
