lighting question

I was wondering is there a special light for the aquarium that would make the colors on fish really stand out? I was looking in the fish store and it seems like the fish glow or look very vivid in their tanks. If anyone knows about lights I would love to know if it is possible to make the fish look brighter. Thanks

actinic lights have that effect on many different types of fish, and are harmless to them. Actinic lighting is typically used in SW tanks, however I run 50/50 bulbs on my FW tank because it really makes the blue dots/streaks in my Praecox Rainbows glow.

the blue from the actinic bulbs makes fish pop a lot but it cant be your only bulb. the higher the k rating the more white the bulb is tends to be the best.
