I was wondering is there a special light for the aquarium that would make the colors on fish really stand out? I was looking in the fish store and it seems like the fish glow or look very vivid in their tanks. If anyone knows about lights I would love to know if it is possible to make the fish look brighter. Thanks :)

actinic lights have that effect on many different types of fish, and are harmless to them. Actinic lighting is typically used in SW tanks, however I run 50/50 bulbs on my FW tank because it really makes the blue dots/streaks in my Praecox Rainbows glow.

the blue from the actinic bulbs makes fish pop a lot but it cant be your only bulb. the higher the k rating the more white the bulb is tends to be the best.

Thanks for the help. I think I'll go browse these lights and see if it'll work with my tank. Appreciate the feedback! :D
