i have a question about nocturnal fish....

if they only come out at night....
then how can you enjoy/see them?
how do u know they are eating ?

I just saw my raphael catfish for the first time in awhile the other night. But I found out where his "den" is and I rearranged it a little so that now when he is sleeping in his little den I can see inside.

All they need is to get used to the light, be it moonlight or room light. Should you be considering moonlights, red LED is best ime. I "measured" by how spooked my fish were when going from darkness to blue and red LED and cold cathode moonlights.

*it's easiest to see them under blue cold cathode, btw. "Best" above is with fish in mind.

Polypterus ornatipinnis well 2 of them are nocturnal once my third one got some size shes out when the lights are on -Anne

Pleco's! Doesn't matter what kind, they all look sooo cool. :D Mine are always out during the day.

Did someone say "nocturnal fish"?

I'll add my vote for Polypterids. Of course....they're my overall favorite fish regardless of when they're active!
