Magnetic Scraper

I need to get a scraper for algae on the side of the tank. A friend has one which I toyed with while looking at his tank. Not sure which brand it was, but it seemed easier using that than trying to use a long handled scraper.

Anyone have one of these magenetic scrapers? The kind that comes in two parts, the scraper is on the inside of the tank and another part on the outside. You move the outside piece and the inside piece follows it around.

Looking for opinions before I buy.

They are wonderful! Definitly a good investment.

AUGH bother. I was just at Walmart last night. Briefly looked at the fish and was impressed how clean the tanks are now that they became a super walmart. I scoped the aquarium supplies but didn't see any kind of scraper.

I figure if it's 'fun' the three year old might want to clean the tank.

be careful letting your 3 year old clean with it. Its easy to get a small grain of sand or gravel stuck in the cleaning pad...and then you'll have bad scratches everywhere.

I have magfloat cleaners, a long handled scraper, a blue algae scrub pad, and razor blades....all for keeping the glass clean.

yeh, just be careful there are no fish hiding under it (I've almost squished a cory before!) and it can be a pain if one of the sides comes off. Then you either sit there running the outside magnet back and forth hopeing the other will somehow be "grabbed" or you have to get your arm wet. Oh, and using the fish to move the magnet back to the glass doesn't work because the rim is metal

Well I plan on taking the scraper out of the tank when I'm not actually using it. I've heard that sand/gravel can get caught under the scraper and scratch the glass. I'll still use the long handled scraper for the very bottom.

I'll check out the magfloats.

The magfloats should float to the top, if detached. This will save your arm from getting wet!

I got a Magfloat free with the filter for my 30, and it works great! Definitely recommended.
