Male or female dwarf gourami?

I'm not a hundred percent so I wanted to see other people's opinion.

What color substrate do you have? It looks like a female but fish will try to fade their color over light substrate so it could also be a male.

Mostly white with some black but it's really colorful when you see it close to something else.

I really want to say it's a female but the stripes are bold on the second picture so again it could be a male.

It looks like the one little arm fin is thicker than the other? Mine was snapped in half when I got him.

+1 female. If you notice the dorsal fin, it is short and rounded at the end. The dorsal fin on a male gourami is a little longer and comes to a point at the end rather than being rounded. IMO, based off the pictures given, your gourami's dorsal looks short and rounded.

Eh, I've bred dwarf gouramis before and that looks like a male to me.

It's a stressed out male. How long have you had him? What else is in the tank with him?

Oops. The determining factor I said is actually only for the full size gourami. Sorry about that, I'm still learning! After doing a little more research I'd say its a male too.
