manzanita wood sand blasted or with bark??

Hey I'v seen manzanita that is sandblasted on most of the site that for aquarium use. I'v also see it non-sand blasted with bark but not specifically for aquarium use. Can you use manzanita that have the bark? Anyone know?

I've seen it used with bark on but also think some contains oil (not 100% sure) so what I would do is soak it for a few days and be sure there are no oil slicks on the water its in and if not I'd say you would be good to go.

I can send you that box I have. I didn't end up using any if it. It's sand blasted though.
