So in my 55G established aquarium, I was experiencing a .25 Ammonia level that just would not go away after adding an additional 5 Mbuna Cichlids to the tank. In order to establish more beneficial bacteria to help with the small amount of Ammonia, I changed out 2 of the 4 baskets of filtration media and my new order is as follows:
Coarse sponge for initial filtration
Stage 1 - Black Bio Max Sponge
Stage 2 - Polishing Pad
Stage 3 - Bio Max
Stage 4 - Bio Max

Does this seem like a good setup for the filtration order? Will adding an additional tray of BioMax help with establishing more Beneficial Bacteria which in essence will help with eliminating the Ammonia?
Am I on the right track?

Thanks

How is your ammonia now? I'd be tempted to suspect that there is plenty of room, but it can take a long time for the population to establish (i.e. so going through a mini-cycle). Not much you can do with those fish vs ph but the ammonia is more of a toxic issue as ph and temperature increase.
