Aquarium Advice Addict
Had this tank for awhile and thought it was time to get it up and running and some more babies for it.
Juwel rio240 4ft 65 gallon. Im really in love with the build quality of these tanks!
I went with juwels structered background instead of the plain black ive used for my other tanks (plain black is 100% my fav colour as the contrast iis next to none with colour dominant fish like peacocks)
Ill be creating another african peacock species tank consisting of only 6 or 7 fish, 1male and 5-6 females. Ill be ordering 16 juvi fish of which species i decide on and growing them while eliminating the males as they grow so i can choose the most beautiful male from the group which is not necessarily the most dominant. But one that looks dull in the group could turn out to be the most colourfull in the right enviroment so its a guessing game.
Filtration will consist of a fluval 406 canister and the fluval u4 internal as a secondary and heating will be taken care off by either a 200 or 300w eheim jager which i already have.
The rocks im using are green rockery and the actual name of the rock slips me. I was tempted to use slate again but wanted a more open area for swimming rather than a huge rockscape like my rusty species tank, so went for 6- 7 larger rocks. The sand im using is the same silver sand in the previous tanks.
So all that is left now is to cycle it. Because im adding 16 juvis at once, it will be cycled to 5ppm without adding any media from my other tanks, once complete i will continue to add ammonia for another few weeks to make sure its stable. Then on the day the fish arrive ill remove the biological media from my other u4 and swap it with new.
Any suggestions on what species of peacock i should keep?
Though id upload a pic of my other tank besides being proud of it, it has the sand ill be using.
Right, off to do a water change!
