I am looking for some definitive advice. I just bought a Clown Pleco. I have had a relatively good sized(12-15 inches) of Mopani Wood in my tank for about a month. My reading has shown varying information. Will the Clown Pleco eat the Mopani? I know driftwood is important to their diet, and I want to make sure the Mopani is suitable. I have a lot of trouble getting other types of driftwood locally, and do not know enough about different woods to go get them in the wild.

Please share any advice you may have.

The Clown is a very pretty fish and I would like him to live a long time.

Mopani wood is fine, my clown munches on it and so does my albino brietlenose. Plus they get wafers and fresh veggies.

Mopani isn't any good to plecos, actually. It's too hard. The malaysian wood is better for them. There are alternatives though. JBL and SERA make catfish wafers that contain wood of the appropriate types for plecos. You can get these foods on the internet.
