Most Colorful Non-Cichlids

Killifish don't have to have massive aquariums, they can happily live in a 5g. One type is livebearer, others eggs layer. They are herbivorous.

5g? A lot of killifish can't. Actually, I usually don't recommend anything for a 5g other than a betta.

Least and Pygmy killi would work in a 5. Other colorful fish for a larger tank would be shiners. Rainbow shiners are great.

Great ideas everyone.

So far I've decided on a Gourami species tank for the 29 when it's ready to go.

Lots of ideas for the 55 as well. That will be a mixed community.

Three of my favorites are rummynose tetras, harlequin rasboras (beautiful red colorings) and white cloud mountain minnows.

Dont forget bottom feeders can be colorful and interesting too!! My too favorites are the polka dot loach and the yoyo loach. They both have black and white-tanish colorings. No two fish of either species has the same colorings, as i have three polka dot loaches from the same shipment that all look slightly different. Definetly give them a look!!
