Here is my list for EVERYTHING to start a tank. Is there anything I don't have? I am also curious about the moonlight. I just want one bright light in the middle of the tank, will this be enough? How does this moonlight hang on? By the way, this is all for a 55g tank. I plan on getting plants and sand elsewhere.

I'd also include some Ceramic Rings in the list. When you setup the Cascade, replace the carbon with something like this or this

Have you decided yet on a Dechlorinator?

I like Seachem's Prime. You don't have to worry about whether you have chlorine or chloramine in your water because it removes both.

Your list looks great to me. You will really love the way your moon light looks!

Look at the Current Lunar Links instead of the Coralife light. I like them much more. Also whatever you choose you will need more than 1. They say one light every 2 feet, so I would shoot for 3 lights. I have 2 Lunar links over my 29gal and it looks amazing at night.

That light is ok for fish and fake plants but if you plan on growing anything it will not be enough

Wow, I like the currents too but they are expensive. Also, I am going for just one light in the middle, I think that looks pretty sweet instead of the whole tank filled with lunar light. Although, if I need more lighting for plants, it may be worth it... I am looking into getting 3M color quartz for my sand. Can you have live plants in sand? I am sure there is tons of info on this but if someone can give me the quick answer that would be great.
Sounds like Dechlorinator is a must. How much should I buy?

I am growing Wisteria, Jungle val, and anubias Nana with pool filter sand. Just try to stick with plants that pull nutrients from the leaves more than the roots. The lunar lights have no effect on plant growth.

A good size bottle of Prime (250ml) will last you a while.

Ok here is my new list. I got rid of the phosphate test and another test, i can get these done at my lfs. I have a question about the media. Its for a fluval, but it will work for a cascade right? Also, what will replacing the carbon with ceramic rings do?

Ceramic rings are for the biological bacteria, they are a porus material where they colonize.

Carbon in only really used to remove meds or other impurities from the water.

but when I cycle isnt that exaclty what I would want in my filter? Which one should be in there when I cycle my tank?

When you are cycling your tank you are basically waiting for beneficial bacteria colonies to for to convert your ammonia and then nitrite.

Some people use carbon when first setting up their tanks to remove whatever chemicals might be in the tank due to shipping and handling.

My Eheim canisters contain Efhimech mechanical media and Ehfisubsrat biological. No carbon at all.

I'd set it up with the Ceramic rings. More bacteria is held with those than with the carbon. You can use any brand of ceramic rings that you want. Cascade doesn't make them and I use the Fluval rings.

I actually prefer NovAqua by Kordon. Or you can just use AmQuel+. It's a personal preference with me, but I've never been as impressed with Prime.

LIst looks good though.

What about fish food? I think you could better buy it there than paying more at your lfs.

Activated carbon, as e.g. stated in my Fluval 304 instructions, takes out a lot of plant nutients in the water and should not be used with life plants. That's one more reason why I wouldn't go with carbon.
