My cichlid has some kind of something on it's head?

Last week I purchased a few cichlids for my newly cycled 55 gallon tank. After a few hours I noticed that one of them had something that looked like algae on top of it's head, which sticks out like a sore thumb. I was thinking at that time that it may have scraped on the rocks inside the tank and may have picked up something from the rock, but it's been a week and it is still there. Any suggestions on what I may be dealing with?

Can you upload a picture? You say it looks like algae, so is it green/brown colour?
