automatic fish feeders are nice as long as you don't have a lot of fish. It was practicly useless for our tank (55 gal) becaues it didn't spit out much. Some of the more advanced ones that are about $40, they are worth it because you decide how many times a day to feed (up to 5 times) and the quantity that is fed. It can take flake, freeze dried, algae wafers, and snacks. AND, it holds up to 2 weeks worth. We have so many tanks now that we have a fishy sitter who comes by twice a day while we are gone for more than two days to turn the lights on, give a light breakfast, then back again that night to turn the lights off and feed dinner. All I have to do is bake her cookies or brownies so it's worth not paying the $40 each for 4 tanks.
