mystery catfish id

A friend of mine has donated a fish to me. Unfortunately, I have no clue what kind it is other than some sort of catfish. Interestingly, he doesn't like to be near my cories but tends to school with my tetras.

The little guy is about an inch long.

The "mask" makes me think its a young bandit Cory

Looks kinda like this cory. Corydoras brevirostris • Callichthyidae • Cat-eLog or this one Corydoras crimmeni • Callichthyidae • Cat-eLog. Kinda hard to tell from the photo. You should be able to tell since you look at him daily.

Not a melanistic cory. The black is not the same either across the eyes or the fins.

Definitely corydoras brevirostris thanks for the help! Now I'm just curious as to why it prefers my tetras over the other cories...

It is strange since cories usually do prefer to be in groups. Maybe you have the lone cory on your hands. Walks to the beat of a different drummer. LOL
