I agree with not adding fish and just feeding less. Unless you actually WANT a catfish. I would reccommend a school of striatia botia. They are in the loach family, and only grow to about 4" and should be fine with the bichir. They are super active scavengers. 4 or 5 would be fine.

And yes, the Eupterus is also the featherfin or featherfin squeaker in some stores!
