I have a pleco that has lived with platy for over a year.

Unfortunately being new to owning an aquarium
(it was gifted to me) I have one platy left.

I have an opportunity to put the pleco in a larger tank
but he would be living with goldfish.
They are larger, not just average size.

His current tank is lighted and covered
and the new tank is open.
Would this be a problem ?

His current tank has 1 filter
while the new tank has 2.

I have read different information
so any help you can offer me is GREATLY appreciated !!

Hi! I strongly suggest not placing the pleco with the goldfish- you are asking for potential problems although the type of pleco may make a difference. What type of pleco? What type of goldfish/how large? What size is the tank?

I'm not sure of the tank size but I can give you dimensions.
Also, I have pictures but am not sure where I can post them.

I'm not familiar with the pleco enough to be able to identify the species.

The filter I have is an Aqua-Tech 5-15.
I think that is what it is called but I'm not at all familiar with
tanks.

I'm not sure what the other filter is because I wasn't able to look at it that carefully but I will check tomorrow.

Thank you !

You can post pics right on this thread and we can help you with IDs. Click on the 'go advanced' response & theres a paperclip at the top of the msg box to download pics from computer. On cell with the app, I believe theres a '+' on top screen to download pics from your phone library. Tank dimesions will help! :)

this is a picture of the tank he will possibly be moving to and also a close-up of the fish.
I'm not sure of the species of my pleco.
I think it may be a common one but I don't know for sure.
I have tried to look at pictures online and compare to him
but he tends to hide.

I can try to get a picture of him if it would help.
Let me know.

Thank you again for your help.

:)

Wow! I gotta agree with jlk on this. Your aquarium looks like a 20gal long. Its not suitable in size for the pleco or the goldfish. In reality you would need an aquarium of about 200- 250gal. for 5-6 comet goldfish and a common pleco. Those goldfish would be better suited to an outdoor pond than an aquarium.
