Need quick answer

Ok, I'm getting ready to head out to petsmart here soon. I've been getting conflicting answers from different websites. I'm buying stuff for my mbuna tank today and was wondering if I needed the special african cichlid salt like this. http://www.petsmart.com/global/prod...<>ast_id=2534374302023693&bmUID=1135627853890

I've got some uniodized salt around here, is it really any different?

You don't need Cichlid salt. It's not necessary.

Yeah, seemed like just a gimic to me. Good thing i decided against buying it after reading that it was mainly used as a pH buffer. My pH is high enough as it is, especially with the crushed coral substrate.

Yup, chances are your water is perfectly fine. If memory serves me correctly, most of the water sources in Indiana have a higher pH already. So with the crushed coral you will be topping out at 7.8. Africans are supposed to love and breed in higher pH levels, but mine are breeding like rabbits in 7.6. We actually have another that is about to release her fry and the Acei's were doing the breeding shimmy last week. WOOHOOO. I can't wait to see your tank when its complete.
