I know a group of neons does best with at least 10. What kind of native conditions would be good for them? What are some types of native plants. Substrate should be sand or crushed coral correct. What other types of fish do they interact with in nature?

Any help will be appriciated.

According to Mongabay (very good site), plants include: Sword plants, Heteranthera, Ceratophyllum, Vallisneria, Cabomba

Water Quality: Peat filtration is recommended (it is blackwater, after all).

Substrate: Bog wood with a dark, fine gravel (e.g. tahitian moon sand, Onxy fertilized sand). Check out the site a bit more. www.mongabay.com. Very cool.
