Well after lots of input from this sight I am going with a group of neon rainbows and cardinal tetras. Mix of real and plastic plants, driftwood and maybe a rock or two. I'm thinking black gravel or something very dark to show up the fish. How many of each fish and should I put all rainbow males or mix of male and female. Any opinions?

Maybe 10 cardinals and 10-15 neons. Make sure you cycle before adding. I don't know much on male-female thing if you're planning on breading them, I usually just add males.

i assume you're talking about the dwarf rainbows, aka praecox? you still don't want many in only a 29, 4 or so might be ok.
