new discus tank

ok resolved the heater position, went for horizontal near substrate. thanks for the advise, new 55 gal dirted planted tank, 4th week of cycle, co2 injected, 20 neons 5 albino cory. 1 MIA cant find that sucker. 0 losses. plants going nuts. no carbon using bio and sponge filtration. temp raised gradually to 81degrees working to 83.
driftwood stopped oozing clear gunk and tannins are minimal. ph 6.8 - 7.0 depending on water changes. everything else in normal discus range. sand topper on miracle grow organic potting mix, with redclay every 2 inches on bottom under 1 .5 inches of sand.
Ready for first round of 3 3inch discus 2 more to follow 3 weeks later. as not to shock the cycle. Now I need to know about feeding what is your opinion of using a feeder cone for blood worms, I plan to use 2 so not to have them compete. am I on the right track and ready for my new babies?
