I currently have a 20 gallon tank that has been cycled and up and running for four months now. It has a single goldfish in it that has been thriving. My current filter is a marineland 150 with the biowheel. It does a decent job, but I think I need more filtration. Goldfish sure are dirty little guys! I want to get an aquaclear 20 and use it in addition to the marineland and have two filters running.

Ok....so here's my question. How will adding a new filter affect my cycle? What can I do to prevent a mini cycle? Etc. it took me two months to get this tank cycled from scratch and I don't want to mess it up!

Thanks!

Im not 100% sure but i think aslong as you run it with the old filter you will be fine

Yes, just add it on your tank, running both filters at the same time for a few weeks, and then you can remove the old one if you want.
