I have decided to buy a fluval chi 5g this Friday from CL for $30. This will be for my apartment on campus.

So I am wondering what stock I should include for this tank? I am possibly thinking of shrimps again, but I'm not sure. Suggestions? Should I do a plant only tank?

Heater

I just bought my second Aqueon Mini Heater one for up to 5 Gal and the other up to 10-15 Gal, but the great feature is a Thermal Safety shut off which will disable the product if there is a malfunction. You would have to buy a new heater if there is a malfunction, but I am saving the receipt. I like the safety feature.

Never can have too many shrimp, and Brigittae Rasbora!

Yikes. Decisions!

Is there a faster way to cycle my tank? My house is 2 hours away from my campus. If I bring my sand and filter from an established tank, will it help? Or should I start a new cycle?

Yes there would be a lot of already established bacteria in the media and substrate it could cut your cycling time in half.
