Depends some are brackish some are fresh.

Alan79- the fish in the picture are -Shell dwellers, bumblebee goby, Scarlett gem badis, australe killifish, galaxy rasbora, and red cherry shrimp

Not all species. But most found in petstores are brackish, yes.
