So, I have a tank set up for a pair of Salvini that I will be getting in the next few weeks. I`m going to be using a bag of ceramic rings and some bio balls from an established tank. How long should I let it run before I add some fish? I`m going to add a few medium sized tetras first, Salvini later on.

Thanks in advance

Depend on the cycle process.. You must add ammonia source and monitor the evolution into nitrites and into nitrates.

Once the cycle is complete you're ready to add fishs.

OR, because you have added seeded media, you could add a few tetras, which will provide an ammonia source for the bacteria you already have and the cycle should get going.

Once set up with the seeded media, give it a couple of days to settle and try just 3 or 4 of your chosen tetras. Keep a close eye on parameters and do small regular water changes as necessary.
