New water for my crayfish

Well, it's time to move my crayfish out of my 55 gallon community tank and into his own place. He's been good in my tank so far ( not eating any fish ) but he has molted twice and is looking more like a lobster ( in size ) than a crayfish. I want to move him to a 10 gallon tank of his own. Would it be ok to use my weekly water change water from my 55 gallon tank to fill a new 10 gallon tank for my cray. I though this might be less stress on him using the water he is already in instead of using new water.

I always fill like half of it up and then use the same water I use for water changes to fill it up the rest of the way.
