I've been in the hobby for years, now, but haven't set up a basic, fun, freshwater community tank in forever. I'm setting up a 29 for a family friend. The focus will be glofish because, well, it's for a 10 year old.

Focusing on Glofish, specifically the barbs and tetras, how would you set up? I'd like to add some livebearers and maybe some corys. Thoughts?

So after a bit of thought, I think I'll steer clear of the barbs and focus on a nice school of the tetras and livebearers. Would you do swords, mollies, or plattys?

I would stick with tetras. Nothing wrong with livebearers but sometimes you get into situations with nipping and chasing. Plus, there's the male-female ratio to maintain to reduce harassment.
As for tetras, some can get nippy: Serpae tetras come to mind.
