I was wondering if any of you have any opinions on adding the water from the bag that new fish are brought home in to the tank.
Is this a good idea?
I am apprehensive because I know my water is good, but I am afraid to add the water from the store.
Am I being overly paranoid? :?

You should never add the water from the bag. After acclimation, the fish should be netted and put in the tank and the store water (and tank water added for acclimation) should dumped down the drain.

Thank you!
I used to think it was OK to let the LFS water into the tank, but after having problems in one tank, and ich in the other, I no longer do this.

I had been dumping it in with no problems, but then read that wasn't a god idea. I still need to convince my fiance

VERY BAD IDEA!!!!

You never know what may be in the LFS water.
You could transfer disses and all kinds of nasty stuff.
Dump it down the drain.

I did it once, and only once. Got some kind of infection from it, all of my fish died. Now, I let the bag sit for about a hour, add water, then net the fish out.
