Orange stuff on a rock in puffer tank?

There are 4 fig. 8 puffers in my 50 gallon (currently alone) and one of the rocks in my tank has this bright orange stuff on it. The rock is aqua safe because I bought it from lfs for aquariums. Can't tell either. Doesn't look like a fungus.

Maybe the rocks are volcanic and that is some sort of secondary vein (like quartz) which is either naturally coloured like that or has weathered (and gone orange due to high iron). Just a guess though but I'd assume safe. You could always put vinegar on it to check if carbonate.
