Hey, I got two Otos yesterday.

The male is fine, grazing and eating and being a happy sucker. The female sits on a leaf or wherever there is algae and appears to be eating but her mouth isn't attached, it's really weird, she appears to be but isn't.....

?

Sounds like she is simply breathing. Mine have done that. I will find them just sitting on a leaf or on the gravel and they are not eating, but breathing.

Sounds like typical behavior to me. They're not constantly grazing, they do take breaks. :D

As with any species you have, your best arsenal is to do lots of research, not only on their environmental and compatibility needs, but also on general behavior patterns.
