Ok so my new tank seems to have formed quite a bit of brown algae over the last week or 2 and although wiping the glass works to get rid of it, it keeps coming back! Also I notice all my plants and some rocks/various other things in the tank have it on it so i'm looking at getting a couple otos.

My question is how well do otos work on brown algae? I have read that they do well with it but want more opinions

Also the big question i'm not sure if my tank can handle anymore fish, even if they are just little otos :p

So here is the setup:

25gal

1 pearl gourami
4 zebra danios
2 black skirt tetras
2 Mollies
3 cherry barbs
4 coris

Water is fine at

0 nitrite
0 ammonia
about 10 nitrate
PH is at about 7.6

So think I can fit a couple otos in there safely?

Otocinculus cats do best in groups of atleast 3 or more. Also, when you go to buy them, make sure you get some that are actively eating and that have full, plump bellies. I think you have room for them in your tank.

The brown algae who have sounds like diatoms. It should go away on its own, just usually means that you have an overabundance of nutrients in your tank.
