Pacing Gourami

My dwarf flame gourami has been swimming back and forth in my 20 long for days now in some sort of a panic. The params are good- is this normal? He isn't bothering any of the tank mates or flashing - and he is eating normally. What is making him so frantic?

In order to help we need more info. Exact water params maintenance schedule diet tank mates. Have any other fish been introduced lately.

Actually I think I figured it out. I think the tank was too bright for him- he was pretty much the only fish in there besides some hidey upside down catfish and a bn pleco so it definitely wasn't being stressed by active fish. I noticed he calmed down that night and the next day I shaded the nearby window more and viola! Back to normal. He has plenty of floating plants but I think the ambient light got too strong during the afternoon. Thanks for the suggestions though!
