Question the hood that came on this 14 is a 2 bulb hood it says (20" new "E" incandescent aquarium reflector 120 volt 50 watt 60 Hz) I currently have two 60 watt 2700k 120v bulbs in it. Are there any bulbs I can use in this that will be good for a planted low tech tank?

Ok so got 1/2 the gravel down upgraded the lights to two 6500k highest I could find. Got my drift wood in. Also got my rotella and some dwarf sag in today it looks awful not sure if it's going to survive a specially the Rotella, but the lady is sending me some replacements. I'm going to put Christmas moss on the uppers of the driftwood and line the back with jungle Val. So what are we thinking so far guys?

Sounds good. Post a picture. A lot of plants go through a melt back when transferred and replanted. Just be patient, they will pout awhile but then start putting on new growth. Some species will set back more than others. The 6500K will be great for your plants. I've seen Rotalla go all way back to a bare stem, then finally start putting out new leaves. OS.
Oops, Pic just showed up.

Thanks I'm super excited! The sag I think might come out of it it has good roots the rotalla on the other hand the stems are completely clear top to bottom with maybe 1 root each

The rotala I don't think is going to make it :-( the dwarf sag im still hoping will come back from the roots but I have new on the way if it doesn't.

Ok guys we're almost done with this one! I'm getting some java moss in from Fishdude3233 I'm going to put on the drift wood uppers. I need stocking ideas I have 12 neons and 2 adfrogs in now I'm getting in 4 blue pearl shrimp from severum momma. Problems I'm only seeing activity at the bottom of the tank right now. I'm wanting to add a centerpiece fish and also a sucker mouth cat of some sort. So give me ideas on how to even it all out and what would be a good centerpiece and sucker mouth that will stay small and not eat my shrimp or frogs. also I can cut back on the neon school if I need to. next question my plants are doing great so great in fact that I need to know how to trim them and if I can plant the trimmings.

Rummy nose tetra do a great school and tend to stay to the middle.

Siamensis algae eater are great addition, but are bottom feeders.

I loved my cae until he started sucking slime coats off everybody in the tank. Any other ideas?
