Plants for 5 gallon betta (TOTALLY planted)

Any ideas of plants for a 5 gallon bow with only a betta, filtered and heated at 78f. I currently have a small castle but also have a 8" piece of PVC that he loves to swim through with about a 5" by 3" flat rock with one side resting on it creating a cave. Right now I have an incadescent bulb (I know not FL) but want to get about a 25-30 watt FL bulb (any recommendations?) the substrate is about 1" of gravel but I was thinking moss and maybe a potted plant in the middle

Java fern is awesome, but i wouldnt get anything until you get fluorescent bulbs

Plus does anyone have any recommendations for snails? Something that will not breed

Mystery snails are the only i have experience with and i love 'em

Mystery snails need both sexes to breed. You could get nerite snails, they need brackish water to grow there young.
