Platies

[Fishy Fever]

I've never kept platies before and I am unsure whether to get some for my Betta community tank. (A male Betta) I've kept bettas with neons, rummynose, and rosy before but, those ran fast. My Betta in that community and is quite peaceful and has never chased any fish before.

How large is the tank ?
Make sure you have a backup plan.

I'd be more worried about the platies picking on the bettas fins. Bettas usually only attack other bettas or possibly other fish that look like it.

I think I'll give it a try. I have a back up tank. The tank I want to put the platies in is a ten gallon.

I would recommend not doing that. Platies are fairly active fish and if you put them with a betta the betta will get harassed constantly

Or do you know any other type of livebearer that breeds readily? (For my empty tank) I haven't decided yet.

Guppies and endlers livebearers would be good for a 10g. And if you're wanting to put them with a betta get guppies that have duller colors and smaller tails.
