Does play sand work instead of sand for pools. I bought it at home depot. If so, do you have to rinse it before putting it in the tank like you would with gravel?

Yes it's fine for aquarium use but it's extremely dirty, so rinse it thoughly and when you think it's clean rinse it again.

I tried play sand once and hated it because it was so fine and always wanted to stay cloudy. I guess mine was finer grained than some, since a lot of people seem to like it. I much prefer pool filter sand though.

oh mine seems pretty fine. I think Ill go and get some pool filter sand, I'd hate to have a cloudy tank. Thank you
