please confirm - Do mollies NEED salt in their tank? can they survive without it?

i'm reading conflicting reports about mollies on the internet.
Some say they are brackish.
Others say its not necessary, just recommended.


I wanted to add them to a community tank with angelfish and corydoras.
But angels and cories are purely freshwater and do not like salt.

Are there any alternatives? what about swordtails, platies ?

No, they don't. There was a big long argument over that a while back. They're adaptable fish that can live in fresh, brackish, or marine environments.
