So here's the deal. I have had a tank set up for about 3 weeks or so. I know all about cycling the tank and what not.

But my ammonia level is 0. But my nitrite is like 3.0 and up.

Need help. Is this normal?

If it's a cycle there will always be a nitrite spike, if you are cycling with fish and it's that high I would suggest a massive PWC, if not then it will eventually go away on it's own with some PWC.

I agree with bruins. The bacteria who turn nitrite into nitrate are probably still growing. Nitrite spikes are normal, it is only an issue if you are doing a fish-in cycle. In that case, do a 50% pwc, and you will have to another one again soon (like, a day at the most). If its a fishless cycle, then just it all do its thing and you should be cycled soon. :)
