Hi, I bought a marbled pleco last weekend and have yet to see him once. I bought him at a little over an inch. I have a lot of plant cover and wood in the tank. I know they can be shy when young, but not one peep! I have a comm. tank so am wondering what might be up? Also would a flying fox make for too much competition?

Most plecos are nocturnal. Try checking your tank late at night, long after the lights have gone out, with a red lensed flashlight.

I used to have a rubberlip pleco that I literally could go over a month without seeing, so it's pretty common.

I have a gold nugget pleco that I have to either sit and wait with the lights off and a flashlight, or turn his cave upside down, to see him.

Depends on the size of the tank as to whether a flying fox would be a good choice.
