i have a few plecos in a 30 gall tank . is it ok to just let the algae grow in it. im trying to breed them. so i figured it would be good for the babies. theres long hair algae and regular green algae both growing in it

As far as I know Pleco's don't eat hair algae, I'd try to get rid of it or it could get out of control.

What kind of plecos are they? As some types get older, they discontinue eating algae. Thus, you may have to feed them veggies and other foods. ^ nailed it on the head, not all algae types are eaten.

greetings.

while it is true that pleco catfish eat algae, it is also important for them to get spirula wafer food once in a while, a diet only consisting of the algae that grow in the aquarium is insufficient, furthermore they don't eat all types of algae. either way, i'd be careful with letting algae grow, it can turn into a problem quickly.

sincerely,
Nereksnad.
