pleco and bristlenose pleco fight?

I have a common pleco in a 58 gal tank with plenty plants, rocks and a driftwood to hide. Can I add one bristlenose pleco? Will they fight?

I don't know that they will "FIGHT" but there may be a teritotry conflict. You may need to re-arrgange some of the decore and make sure there are enough hiding places for both.

But them are both some VERY large fish for a 58G tank. You may want to re-consider that idea. But that's just my 2cents.

It's not likely. Bristlenoses are smart enough to know they cannot win. Check this thread to see what I mean.

Actually, bushynose plecos only get about 4 1/2" long max and one would probably do fine in a 20 gallon tank. I kept 2 (male and female) in my 55 gallon and the male would chase around the female but no harm was done.

A common pleco can and will grow very large and anything smaller than a 75 gallon tank will not be good for it in the long run. Even one common pleco in a 58 gallon tank will be too much eventually.

The pleco is only 4' now. When it grows big enough, I will return it to lfs. This is the reason I want to have a bristlenose, it won't grow too big and it may live for many years. I am just afraid the common pleco may kill the bristlenose.
