Would you recommend these for my 55 gal tank or not ??????

FW tank right? No, not necesairry. At least I don't know anyone who uses them on fw tanks.

HTH!

You can use a power head if you want some additional water flow for some reason, i.e. a dead spot or fish that enjoy current. A protein skimmer will not even work on a FW tank the surface tension is no high enough.

This post is in the FW section, so I assume you are planning a FW tank. Protein skimmers will either not work or do no good in FW. They do work in SW tanks.

Yep, a protein skimmer just barely does anything worthwhile on a FW tank, so its essentially useless.

the powerhead...just depends on what other kind of filtration you have and if its enough current.
