Preparing for potential mudskipper aggression

I have a Periophthalmodon septemradiatus mudskipper in my 33 gallon. I ordered a "friend" for him (arrival on Saturday). I'm pretty sure they will get along since I used a lot of time to adjust the decorations suitably. Just in case though... What if they don't get along? Would a large food safe container be a good emergency home for one of them?
