Prolapse????

I came to look at my fish this morning and my pregnant black molly is floating on its side at the top of the tank with this long brown tube coming out of her butt X.x it kinda looked like intestines.... any idea what could've happened or if it was even intestines cuz I dont exactly KNOW what fish intestine looks like @_____@

It could be...this occasionally happens with gravid livebearers when they strain too much during the birthing process...it can be avoided by making sure that the fish's diet is high in vegetable-matter (spirulina/veggies flakes are usually sufficient if mixed 50:50 with regular flakes), but there is little that can be done at this stage, I am afraid....she will either get past it or she will not.
