Does anyone use these on freshwater aquariums? I'm experiencing an oily film on the surface of my tank and I would like to address it. Thanks

A protein skimmer is for SW systems and won't work on FW. What you need is a power head pointing up slightly to move the surface and break the surface tension. They do make a surface skimmer for FW systems but I have found a paper towel dragged across the surface while rolling it up works. Good luck!

Thanks

They do work on FW but not as well as SW

The size of a skimmer would need to be very big to run on FW the problem is SW holds the bubble better than FW
