Purchasing Bettas online

Hey, I've been looking into fancier bettas for my 5gal tank, and I'm super interested in a D/SD betta. However, the only place that I know where to get them is aquabid.com, and a LOT of their fish are from Thailand or Indonesia...I'm willing to bet that shipping is an arm and a leg, and would cause a ridiculous amount of stress on the fish. Does anybody have any advice?

Here is a link from the International Betta Congress website. Look through these banners for breeders near you. I am interested in finding a betta through a breeder too, and I plan to go through this list and find breeders near me. I think now, or soon, is the best time to contact the breeders, since they are probably breeding now to have bettas ready for summer shipping.
