So do I have to purchase marine salt in order to make brackish water or can I use pure sea salt used in cooking? Also does anyone know how much I should put per gallon for a salinity of 1.00.5, Its for a red claw crab.

Any help is appreciated!

It needs to be marine salt, AFAIK. And if memory serves you'll add about 1 tablespoon per gallon. From what I hear it's recommended to let the salt disolve into the water over 24 hours, but if it is well mixed I believe the minimum sit time is a hour.
This is just stuff I've based my own brackish systems off of.
Also, also, you want to also pick up hydrometer so you can double check for a specific gravity (at least that's what I understood) of 1.005. It's always good to double check that
