I'm not sure if I put this in the right forum, but oh well. I have a 20 gallon tank
with a goldfish and 2 nerite snails. I had algae growing on the glass when I noticed it started to turn a reddish purple. Is it because it's dead? And can my snails eat it?

Your algae is probably "Brown Algae". It's non toxic, just unsightly. Some fish and snails eat it.
